Conditional formating applied to overlapping areas

Philip

I have up to 5 overlapping conditional formats in a 2007 worksheet. Whenever
I make changes in the sheet such as moving or copying cells within those
areas, area references (sometimes single cells) get added to the affected
conditional formats. A point is reached when Excel 2007 crashes because it
can't seem to handle all those unnecessary area references. How do I prevent
this clutter, i.e. maintain only the original specified areas without having
to do it manually after making changes in the worksheet?
