Confused about watch folders in Project Center

Hi I am a little confused, despite going through all the help files,
about how watch folders work. I have set up my Project and all the
contacts. Are all the emails from contacts supposed to go in the watch
folder? I notice that if I want them to go in there, I have to
physically drag them from my Inbox to the watch folder---but that isn't
how it is supposed to work, is it? Yet, I still notice that all emails
from my contacts or sent with a project tag are appearing in my project
mail.

So to make it easier to answer, which of these statements is true??

1. the project watch folder automatically contains copies of the
project-related messages that come to my Inbox, so there is no need to
drag them there?

2. the watch folders do not contain copies of the messages and I have
to drag them there if I want them in there?

And also, b/c I notice they are not going in there automatically, how
do I make them go in that way, or is that possible? And if these emails
are already showing up in my Project Center Mail, what is this Project
Watch Folder supposed to really do?

No, I don't think that messages are supposed to go into the Project Watch
folder automatically, at least not by default. After all, if you want to
see all of the messages associated with a project, you need only open the
Project Center, select the project, and click the "Mail" tab. It would seem
that would allow you to keep messages in different folders and still see
them all in one view.

If you really want all messages in the Project Watch folder, you can create
a rule to move them there. Go to Tools > Rules, and create a rule like this
under the appropriate tab:
* Execute actions if any criteria are met
IF Project is <the project name>
THEN Move Message <Project Watch folder>
ˆ Enabled

Click OK to save the rule.

Thanks Mickey, but then again, I must ask: what is the point of the
Project Watch folder, then? What exactly is it supposed to do?

With the Project Watch folder, you can move a message there and it will
automatically be associated with the project; similarly, I think that moving
it out will remove the association. This can't be said for other folders,
but you can manually associate any message with the project.
