Confusion over Office X Release Versions vs Entourage Versions

I just read the blurb from MS about Update 10.1.4 for Entourage-X and I am
really confused It says you must first run Office updater 10.1.2 before
running the 10.1.4 update.

I think I ran the Office 10.1.2 updater but my Entourage X is currently at
10.1.1 Service Release 1. How can you tell if the Office updater 10.1.2 has
been installed?

Did the Office updater change the application versions to 10.1.2?

I am really confused and don't even use the server but would like to be
running the most current Entourage.

The Office 10.1.2 updater installs Entourage 10.1.1, Word 10.1.1, Excel
10.1.0 and PPT 10.1.0. (So did an earlier Office 10.1.1 Updater: the 10.1.2
Updater will update all the way from original release 10.0.0, whereas the
earlier 10.1.1 updater would update only from Office SR-1 [10.1.0].) So none
of the apps has a 10.1.2 version: that's as it should be. The fact that you
have Entourage 10.1.1 means you can update further to 10.1.4 now.

The only file with a 10.1.2 version is the Microsoft Component Plugin in
Microsoft Office X/Office/ subfolder. (It will show 10.1.3 if you then had
updated to 10.1.3 for French and German proofing tools.)
