Connect Database

Qualcuno sa come collegare le attività di un progetto con un database
access o Excel al fine di poter aggiornare i campi velocemente e in
modo univoco?

There is a possibility for the connection databases access or Excel at
Micrsoft Project?
Excuse me for my bad english

I've been studying that possibility for quite some time
now, but still haven't found a way to do it in an easy or
practical manner.
I know you can export data to both Access and Excel tables
but each time you do so you replace every single record in
it so it doesn't bring any advantage.
By the other hand you can import data from Excel or Access
tables, but you will have to build maps, so that
Project 'knows' where to store the information.
Either way I don't think it's practical...
If you find out a better way please let me know because I
have the exact same problem.
Many thanks!

Here are two ways:

- Write VBA code that transfers what you need and where you need it.
There will only be a refresh when the macro is executed;

-Copy, Paste Link

Well that works fine with importing data from Excel, but
does it work with Access? Can you export data that way?
My VBA programming skills are somewhat limited. Do you
know where I can find help at that level?
Thanks for your help!

Hi Manuela,

I have done quite some VBA, but I hardly know any Access.
I learned most of my VBA from a book
Special Edition Using Visual Basic for Applications, Quecorp.

I've also been searching for this solution. If you use Project 2002 Professional or later, you can check your projects into Project Server. This data is stored within a SQL Server database, which can be accessed from MS Access using the SQL Server OLE DB driver that comes with Access.
If Project Server is not being used, I wonder if there is MS Project OLE DB driver available that would allow Access to connect to a Project database (rather than the SQL Server database)?
The danger here is that if an Access database can link to a Project database, the Access interface will be able to change the data in the Project tables. This could really screw-up your Project file and your schedule. The link should be set up to flow only one way, from Project to Access.

Moskolowsky - Ciao.

Hello Jan!
I really appreciate your help!
I'll go and search for that book.
Thanks once again!
