Connection Problems using Exchange 2003 Server

Hello,

We have one new powerbook and i tried to configure entourage, so that
the user can access his mailbox on our exchange 2003 server.

as long as i have entered the account details and the name of the
exchangeserver, i was unable to connect to the server.

my last try was to enter the outlook web adress in the server field
using https as protocol and suddenly i can connect to the server.

I have changed none of the other informations like account name or
password or e-mail-address.
Obviously there is a authentication problem if i just enter our server
name in the server field.
altough i am able to ping the server.

Which protocol is used for the connection to exchange? it seems to be a
protocol problem.
why does it work using https?

any ideas,

felix

It should definitively workwith HTTPS. You'll have to make sure the Mac
has the proper certificate though, buyt there is no reason why it
shouldn't work.
If you can load the page through webmail, you should be able to use the
same address as the Exchange server address (you can copy and paste to
make sure). I have something that looks like that for my server:
http://my.server.com/exchange/me

Entourage uses WebDAV for Exchange.
Are you getting any error message ??
