Contact Dates Incorrect on Import

having changed company, I recently exported my contact details from outlook
to file, and have imported this file at my new work place. Both using
outlook 2000.

I have found that all the contact birthdates are out by one day (early).
This is a big problem as I do not know what else has been corrupted in the
process of importing. Is there a logical reason for this? How do I correct
other than manually changing the dates (and having to individually check that
they are indeed ALL out by only one day)? I have tried reimporting but
receive the same incorrect result.

Pretty unimpressed.

a bit more information that I have just thought - I have moved from China to
Indonesia - could it be something to do with Calander settings / regional
settings being different between those two locations?

Why are you importing and exporting? That always changes or loses data. You
have no need to change file format.
Just copy and open the PST file to transfer Contacts. See if that helps.
