Contacts Different

I am using Outlook 2003 SP1 - When I click on the "Contacts" icon I get
the correct e-mail adresses etc but when composing a new e-mail and I
click on "To:" to bring up the addresses I get a completely different
address book. I have tried everything to no avail. How do I get the
"To:" to reference the correct address book?

the To... does not reference an address book - it's the autoresolution
function (you could Google that for more information) and is in a little N2K
file. If you have names that appear in To... that you don't want, use the
down arrow and delete button to get rid of them.

Hi Yelnocer,
Clicking on the To button brings up the Select Name dialogue box and you can
change what address book is shown first by going to Tools (on the Outlook
Menu) || Address Book || Tools || Options || and using the drop down
selector on the "Show this address list first" field.

I am aware of the NK2 file and because of many many bad addresses I
deleted it completely. The NK2 file usually provided a list when I
start typing within the "TO:" box. I am clicking on the "TO:" and it is
brining up some sort of complete contact list but it is not the same as
the one that I guess is my address book. I keep other things in my
address/contacts such as FTP IPs and username/passwords and they do not
appear. It is almost like I have two sets of contacts and depending on
where I am in Outlook it looks at different files.

Click the book icon in the toolbar, then Tools | Options and set the order
in which Outlook checks names - it can look in the GAL, Personal Address
Books, then Contacts or whatever order you set.
