contacts disappearing from outlook 2003 and now PDA

Help!
I've got Outlook 2003 w/SP-2 (11.8010.8107) Active Sync (4.2.0) (build 4876)
Just within the last couple of days. I have started to lose contacts. I no
longer can find any contact >H.
I have run repair on Outlook. I have have run Scanpst.exe. Next I ran
Chkdsk C:/r.

I stiill do not have access to >H in contacts.

Any suggestions?

(yes I do have a backup I could use but I'd like to determine the cause of
this issue if possbile before I possibly screw up my backup copy)
