Contacts, events not synchronizing; does it do so for anyone?

Levin, Michael

I'm running Entourage v.X to access an Exchange server in my organization.
The email works fine, but the local contacts and calendar entries never get
reflected by the server (although invites to work). Is this supposed to
work, and if so, can someone tell me how to troubleshoot the problem?

In Entourage X, contact and address book sync goes through a different
protocol than e-mail (WebDAV vs IMAP).
WebDAV (webmail) needs to be enabled on the server and you need to make
sure the free/busy server setting is correct. I suspect there is
something wrong in these settings which would clearly explain what you
currently see.

Usually it looks like that:
webmail address: http://www.myserver.com/exchange/me
the free/busy server setting is then something like that:
http://www.myserver.com/exchange/public

Some servers require specific ports. Some others use SSL... I can't
predict what yours will use but you should manage to find the proper
settings for your specific case.

Thank you! I've found out the settings and now it does indeed sync
contacts and some calendar entries, but not all calendar entries. It's kind
of weird - some got uploaded, and some did not. Do you have any thoughts as
to why some wouldn't get put on the server? Also, does Entourage sync Notes
or Tasks? My Outlook Web Access interface seems to show a Tasks category,
but nothing in it.

I don't really know. And I don't remember whether you can set Entourage
X to only sync some selected categories ano not others...

I don't think it does.

If I recall correctly, in vX each contact had a sync/nosync check box. In
2004 it went to a category selector - you could sync _only_ contacts in a
selected category, or block syncing of a selected category.

I'm pretty sure you can select categories for synchronization in Entourage
X, since you can't in Entourage 2004. If I recall, it's in the last tab of
the Exchange account window.
