Contacts not visible

I have , for some unknow reason, now lost visibility of my Contacts. Whne
you go to Contacts, instead of seeing all the contacts by name (or whatever
you decide) there are a number of grey bars for each contact. Clicking on a
contact opens the window and all the data is there. likewise typing a name
into the e-mail 'To@ field and seraching, finds the address. It is just
frustrating that when I go to Contacts I can not see anything but gret bars.
I have even updated to Office 2003 and the problem has remained!

View | Arrange By | Current View | Customize Current View | FIelds -- Change
the field order to put a different field first.
