Continuos Form with colored background and field height problems

I have a form with a subform that is viewed as a continuous form. To
visually differentiate some of the columns I used a blank label as a
background behind a field with a transparent background. I also had to
use the form's dividing line feature. I had made the label and the
field textboxes the same height as the form's detail height. The
resulting display was pretty ugly. Sometimes the dividing line would
show up, sometimes not. Sometimes the dividing line would be "broken"
under the label backgrounds, sometimes not.

My fix has been to reduce the height of the labels and textboxes so
they are about .208 less than the form's detail height. The dividing
lines are OK but a "white ghost" appears above and below the dividing
line. Is there a way to elliminate the ghost without interfering with
the dividing line?
