Convert negative to positive

[Newbie]

How can I convert a qty of -300 to 300

i have tried = abs(Qty) and i have tried = -Qty but each time I get #Error
on the report

Open the report in design view and change the Name of the text box.

If it has the same name as a field, but is bound to something else (like an
expression), Access gets confused.
