running Outlook 2003 on a windows machine at work; running entourage
2004 for Mac OS X at home...still wondering if there's a way to
import/transfer/whatever the distribution lists from Outlook to
Entourage?
I see posts from 2003 saying no, but I wonder if things have changed?
No. But if you assign a category of the same name as the distribution list
to all the contacts in the list in Outlook (not trivial), then make a
Contacts subfolder containing (a copy of) all such contacts, and export the
subfolder to CSV, you can use my Export-Import Entourage scripts (Outlook
Contacts to EvX and Contacts Import into X) to import them into Entourage.
That will retain the categories on import. Then sort the Address Book by
category, use shift-click to select top and bottom contact of one of these
categories to select all in between, and click "Add Group" button: tat makes
an Entourage Group containing all those contacts of the category. Give the
group the same name as the category, and there you are. (Or you can use my
free Make Category Group script to do the same thing.) Repeat for each such
category/group.
