Copies of sent messages end up in outbox

Hi, I'm using Earthlink dial-up (nothing else but satellite available
where I live) as my ISP, and MS Office 2004. Every time I send a
message from Entourage, whether immediately or using the send later
option, a copy of the message I send shows up in my outbox.

If I don't delete the mesage before the next send & receive occurs, the
message ends up being sent again.

Can I stop this from occuring by changing settings in Entourage, or is
happening because of something in Earthlink's e-mail program?

Thanks.

When a message is being sent or is ready to be sent later, it's placed in
the Outbox. It doesn't disappear from the Outbox (and get moved, if you
have that setting enabled) until it's been sent. Is it possible the message
is still being sent (check the lower-right corner of the Entourage window
and Window > Progress for status)? Once it's been sent, it should disappear
from the Outbox.

If you're sure messages are being sent and are staying in the Outbox, check
your settings. Go to Tools > Accounts, click the "Mail" tab, and open your
EarthLink account. Under "Sending mail", set the SMTP server to
"smtpauth.earthlink.net" (without the quotes). Under "Advanced Sending
Options", check "SMTP server requires authentication", and "Use same
settings as receiving mail server". Click OK to save settings. Does that
help?

If not, try creating a new identity (Entourage > Switch Identity), set up
your EarthLink account there, and try sending a message. Does it stay in
the Outbox?
