Copy vertical column in Word

If you have a columns that have been set by tabs in a Word document something
like this:
BRPT 0000 0006 0006 000353 000188
CAB 0001 0000 0001 000055 000026
FLR 0000 0002 0002 000106 000050
HIWD 0002 0000 0002 000158 000178
OLNE 0001 0017 0008 000478 000347
There is a way using WordPerfect, to select (in order to copy) a single
(one or more) vertical column. Does anyone know if this is possible in MS
Word and how it can be done?
