copying a formula

I am trying to copy a formula where a number is subtracted
from a date. I have lots of dates I need to subtract a
different amounts of days from so I do the first one
example: 30 from 2/5/04 it will give the correct answer
for that cell where that formula is but when I try to copy
that formula to the other cells to do the same thing it
copies the answer from that one cell. What am I doing wrong

What type of format is your formula? Is it of the type = 02/05/04-30 or is it
located in C1 and looks like =A1-B1 where A1 = Date and B1 =# of days?

If the formula looks like the first type, when you copy it, you are going to get
the exact answer everywhere you copy it. If it looks like the 2nd formula and
you are getting the exact answer #1 check and make sure there are not absolutes
being copied and 2 try copy then paste special Formula

You may have Tools>Options>Calculation set to "manual" if none of the other
suggestions pan out for you.

Re-set to "Auto"
