Copying entries from Entourage 2004 Exchange calendar to Local disk calendar... How?

Can anyone suggest a way to copy calendar entries from Exchange
calendar to the local disk calendar? I tried exporting Exchange
calendar to the desktop (in a folder) and it results in some 1200
entries. Then I tried drag and dropping those into the local disk
calendar. It works individually and in pairs but seems to get stuck
and ignore my drops at large numbers.

Is there any other way?

Thanks

You can use Custom Views to help you get a list of events that you can
drag directly into your local calendar without having to export or copy
events to the Desktop. See if this works:

1. In Entourage switch to the Calendar view.

2. Select File --> New --> Custom View.

3. Name your view something like "All Exchange events" and set the
following criteria:

Item types: select only Calendar Events
Location: "This Calendar" and select your Exchange calendar.
Criteria: Subject Is not "empty"

This assumes that none of your calendar events have a subject of "empty".

4. Click the OK button and then select your Custom View. This will
create a list of items where you can select one or more entries and
drag/drop onto your "Calendar [On My Computer]" icon.

The only reason you'd ever want to do this (that I know) is if you're
about to diconnect permanently from your Exchange Server. Is that the
case? Otherwise, why would you want to duplicate events? Maybe this
isn't your solution.

Hope this helps! bill

Disconnection from the Exchange is exactly the reason. Well, actually
migration from Windows XP to a MAC was the real reason but lacking
information on other means I did it through the Exchange
integration...

Would I be able to drag and drop multiple events, or even the WHOLE
LOT in one go?

Thanks.

Sneaky. I like it.

You should be able to select, drag and drop everything at once. Give it
some time. You might want to do a handful and then larger handfuls until
you're comfortable doing everything else. I'd hate to see you run into
the same issues you had when dragging and dropping from the Finder.

Good luck! bill

Drag and drop of events (and contacts, messages and other stuff) seems to
come unglued after about 220 items. Restrict your D&D to 200 items at a time
and everything should be fine.
