Corrupt Attchments

If this has been covered before (I am sure it has been) please forgive
another question on this issue. I sugscribed to this group a week ago
and checked all posts in case it was a raging issue, but was surprised
to see that there was nothing on the subject.

Since the upgrade to Tiger, all attachments from Entourage to a mail
recipient get corrupted. Cheking the net... there seem a lot of
similar complainst, some of which were attributed to Little Snitch (who
released a patch to supposedly correct this), but having installed the
patch, there is no improvement.

Does anyone know the solution to this? Is there light on the horizon?

I have reverted to using Mail to send anything with an attachment, but
it is frustrating to work between two packages.

Any help hugely appreciated.

A number of possible factors have been isolated in this case, and there is
no real bullet-proof solution; I just thought I should warn you in the first
place.

First of all, a number of posters suggested removing Little Snitch. You're
saying that you're using the patched version, but have you ever tried to
uninstall Little Snitch completely before sending new messages with
attachments? You can always reinstall Little Snitch at a later stage, but I
think it would be worth finding out. Also, if I remember correctly, some
users found that disabling Intego's NetBarrier also helped.

By the way, you're not saying whether you've downloaded this week's SP2
update for Office 2004; in case you haven't, do it now and see if that
solves the problem.

Michel - sorry - I should have said - I have installed SP2 hoping that
this might have a fix, but has not helped.

I did completely remove Little Snitch and re installed with the patch
and that did not work.

Net Barrier is a new one to me, so have not tried that. I will
uninstall it and see what happens.

Did you remove the kext for Little Snitch as well? That is located in
System/Libaryar/Extensions. A restart is required after removing their kext
file.

Why? Entourage SP2 works fine with LittleSnitch.

Earlier versions of Little Snitch were incompatible with Entourage. The
latest version of Little Snitch does work as you suggest.

Another option is to update to the latest version of Little Snitch, but
before suggesting I wanted to confirm that removing it does indeed fix the
problem.

Thanks,
Rebecca

If this has been covered before (I am sure it has been) please forgive
another question on this issue.

Yes, it was brought up a couple of weeks ago in a post from me, but no
EUREKA! Solutions were forth-coming.

I also had Spamfire 2.1 running, which apparently had a few issue with
Entourage (or maybe it was with LittleSnitch, compounding a problem with
Entourage). So I finally tossed Spamfire, and this seems to have had a
salubrious affect at least on zipped or stuffed files.

I uninstalled Little Snitch at your suggestions and removed NetBarrier.

When I went to remove the Little Snitch kext file, I was surprised to
see it wasn't there, so re-booted, re-installed and re-booted again to
find that the kext was were it should have been.

I then ininstalled again to check the kext file, and found that
uninstall had removed it. Re-booted and Entourage was perfect.
Reinstalled Little Snitch (the patch) and Entourage was again, perfect.

So the issue was either NetBarrier or LS. I have not reinstalled
NetBarrier but LS together with Entourage now works perfectly.

Thanks so much to all who have helped. It really is hugely appreciated.
