Corrupt Entourage Program??

Please help someone new even if I don't get it right the first time!
My Entourage program has begun to act very strange. A deleted message
kept reappearing in my Inbox. I deleted all of the sender's messages
from my "Deleted" and "Sent" files and emptied the trash. That solved
the problem but now the program keeps quitting and mangling my
messages. Error messages keep popping up. I am operating OSX. I am
using Webmail temporarily since the "Mail" program also could not be
configured. I have spent hours on the phone with an Earthlink support
person who concluded that both Entourage and Mail are "corrupt". Are
these programs under warranty? I hope that isn't a stupid question
but do I need to pay to download a new version? And if so will my
saved messages and ad dress book transfer automatically to the new
program? How would I get rid of the "corrupt" program? Would I
download first or get rid of the "corrupt" program first? I don't even
know what "corrupt" means or how it happened. I do have Norton
Anti-Virus installed so I am perplexed. Thanks in advance to anyone
who can enlighten me. Feel free to use my e-mail address since I can
fetch the message from Webmail.

It is possibly an early sign of mild database corruption.

Hold down the option key when starting Entourage and take the first option
('typical rebuild'). If this doesn¹t resolve the problems, then try an
ŒAdvanced Rebuild¹.
