Corrupt Files? (mail error)

I'm having trouble with my Inbox and can't get around it. None of the
messages in the Inbox show up - it just shows gray - until I start clicking
around then they show up. Until I click on one of them...then I get an error:
The action could not be completed. Mail error.

Then I have to force quit. I've pulled all the other emails out of the Inbox
and it is just that one, but I can't delete or do anything with it. Everything I
do give the same error. I tried deleting prefs too.

So I'm guessing it's a corrupt file. Is there a way to clean up the file? Or is
there a way to open a new file (like Outlook .pst files) and just move what I
want to keep into the new file?

Do a database rebuild. Hold down Option key when launching Entourage.
"Typical" (Entourage X) or "Compact (2004) may be sufficient in this case.
If not, repeat but choose Advanced (X) or Rebuild (2004).

It really would be helpful if you'd state what version you have...
