When starting Entourage:mac 2004 I get the error: "The Rules file appears
corrupt. Rules cannot be used." followed by an immediate exit of the
program. Any help would be appreciated.

The rules file is here:

/Users/you/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004 Identities/you/Rules

Try quitting Entourage, moving this file to your desktop, and
restarting Entourage.

Excellent -- that worked. It complained about the Signatures and Mailing
List files, too -- but luckily the database was in tact.

Thanks again,

If you have a backup of your Identity, you can use the Rules and Signatures
files by just dragging them over.

This solution also worked for me in Office 2008. Thank you.
