Corupt Email

Ryan Burkitt

I have Office X and it was running on a Imac G-3, (i have now up-
graded to a g-4 laptop, and it hasn't changed.) I have a ton of e-mail
messages (total 1.4Gig) they seem to be currupt and having problems.
- sometimes some of the messages don't show up in the window there
is just white lines where they should be. it may be a few mesaged in
the middle of a bunch of other messages, sometimes it is the entire
window full of messages. the messages are still there, when you click
on one it shows up in the display part of the window. sometimes when
clicking on them, scroling through them or trying to copy them to
another folder it gives me a mail error message.
-when i try to copy the folders of e-mails to the desktop or another
disk(to archive or move to another computer) it seems to do it alright
but when opening it up again, it hasn't really copied all of the
messages.
Any Ideas?
I was using Office 10.0 but have now realized that there is an upgrade
and uped it to 10.1.5. but it hasn't helped.

thanks in advance-
Ryan

You have to rebuild your database. For these "out of order" problems a
simple Typical Rebuild is usually all that's necessary.

Close all Office applications. Hold down the Option key before launching
Entourage and keep it down until you see the window about the rebuild. Leave
"Typical" chosen and click OK. When it's finished, see if everything's OK.
If not, repeat the process but choose Advanced.

When done, you can trash your old database from here: [Hard
Disk]/Users/[username]/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office X
Identities/Main Identity [or as renamed]/Old Database.

*If you _still_ get a warning about closing all Office applications even
though you've done so, go to System Preferences/Login Items, remove all
copies of "Microsoft Database Daemon", then Log Out from the Apple menu, log
back in, and then hold down Option key and launch Entourage.
