Cost of a project

H

Hardik Shah

Does anyone know if you can add a per week cost for a task. The cost should
not be based on the resource but the task itself and can change if the
duration changes.

Thanks!

Hi Hardik ,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

The only way I can think of is to create a false resource (perhaps a
material one?) and apply a cost rate to that.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :))

Hi Hardik Shah,

By using a Flag field and one of the custom Cost fields, I have an answer
that I hopes works for you.
Insert one of the Flag fields in the table and set the field to "Yes" for
the task you want the cost added to.
Insert one of the Cost fields and add the following formula:
(This assumes you are using Flag1, you want to add 500 per week for the
task, and that your definition of a week equals 40 hours.)
IIf([Flag1]=0,0,([Duration]*500)/2400)
Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

That would be a classic example of a fixed cost except the requirement that
it change if the duration changes. The fixed cost field is designed to
capture costs that are associated with a task or summary that are neither
labour costs nor material costs.
