COUNT Function

I have a range in cells B4:B50 that contain either M
(male) or F (female). In range C4:C50 is the age of each
person. I am looking for the formula to count the number
of M's over 17.
Can anyone help me out with this?

Surely;

=sumproduct((b4:b50="m")*(c4:c50>17))

if you really mean "17 or older" add a '=' before the 17.
