COUNTIF?

I have a large worksheet that includes many subtotals in
A, and need to count the subtotalled cells, as they are
unique to each subtotal subset. Trying to apply a formula
using COUNTIF function, but my inexperience is outpacing
my creativity. Help please!

=COUNT(A2:A300)-SUBTOTAL(3,A2:A300)
