Crash after 'Find'ing Contacts

K

Outlook sometimes crashes after I've used the Find toolbar to find Contacts.

Unlike some posts in this newsgroup it crashes after finding the relevant
contacts not before it's found them. Sometimes it appears to finish the Find
completely and only crashes a short while afterwards (usually if I minimise
the window). But sometimes, having found the right contacts, the Find
facility continues to search indefinately (the little magnifying glass icon
continues to move perpetually) even if I press the Stop button. Outlook will
always then crash when I shut the Contacts window and sometimes when I just
minimise it.

I'm running Win XP Pro and Outlook 2003 with an Exchange server and two
Internet email accounts. I'm using an ost with caching, though switching
caching off doesn't solve the problem.

I'm also running ActiveSync 3.7.1 having just upgraded after seeing a post
here that ActiveSync has been known to cause crashes in the Find facility.
I've also seen postings from some years back that suggest service packs will
fix some crash problems but I'm now on a much later version of Outlook and
outlook is fully uptodate.

My Contacts folder contains nearly 2000 contacts.

If anyone knows what might be causing this problem and has a potential
solution I'd be very grateful to hear.

Many thanks

Kevin Lucas
