crashing and duplicating

I'm using Office 2008, and Entourage is giving me a message with some frequency, that it "has to shut down, sorry..." (I hit send to send the information to wherever each time it happens, for what that's worth). When I relaunch it, something weird is happening in my calendar — it starts repeating all the events in it, from one time to recurring, so that the items will appear 2 or even 4 times in the calendar. Odd. I sync my Entourage calendar with iCal. I'm wondering what the cause of the repeating is, whether there's some odd feedback loop with iCal, and what I can do to prevent this.

Try turning of Sync Services in Entourage preferences. If the crashing stops
then we need to look at corruption in your calendar events.

Get rid of the duplicates in Entourage using one of these scripts:

When you sync back to the calendar in iCal, select

"Replace Sync Services items with Entourage items"

You can also reset Sync Services:

If the problems continue, then finding the corrupt event could be your next
step. Try File --> Export as Entourage archive (.rge) file only Calendar
events. If it exports without failing, then export again but this time
select delete events after exporting. Next, import them back into Entourage.
Sometimes this can clear the data.

I'm afraid you have a higher opinion of my skills than is deserved. You had previously sent me a script regarding moving deleted junk items into the deleted folder vs. eliminating them, and now this script. But I don't know how to incorporate or use these scripts. With the junk email one, it seemed to only work on one message that was selected. I just hit "run" for the duplicate script, and nothing seemed to happen.

if I can't sync my entourage with my iCal, then I can't in turn sync events into my iPhone. I did shut off the sync services, to see if it stops crashing, but that's not a good long term solution.

So if you could advise on how to run scripts, that would be great.

I am having the exact same problems with duplicating calender events and Entourage crashing. I would love to be kept in the loop on a solution to this, Cheers Paula
