create labels with vertical text direction

How can I create a sheet of labels with the text aligned vertically. The
labels must be file folder size and fit the names and titles of people in my
office. This is for multiple mailboxes.

When you stick the labels on the folder you will be turning the labels
vertically. I don't quite understand what you are trying to do.

Setup your page landscaped. Create a table with the dimensions of your labels.

Are you merging the names?

Basically, I need to align the text so the letters stack one one top of the
other:
J
A
N
E

D
O
E

I'm not merging, just creating a brand new document. I will try your
landscape page setup suggestion.

Just to update:
I ended up creating a sheet of labels manually and inserting Word Art. This
may be the long way of doing it, but the results are good. The names on the
labels print in one long vertical line with letters stacked. I recommend
using all caps (Castellar font works well) as it is easier to read.

I was about to suggest Word Art when the web page updated with your last
message. I don't think there is a better way, at least not in Publisher.
