Creating a phone list title for a that does not yet exist in Outlo

I want to create a new "type" of phone number to associate with particular
contacts. The one I want is not standard and I would prefer to have it in the
actual phone numbre list so that it will automatically format the number as a
phone number. I looked at the user defined fields put was not pleased with my
options for the number format. How do I go about creating this or is it even
possible?

It's not possible to add new fields to the list of phoine fields.
