Creating a template with fields

I want to create a template that contains insert fields that contain a
content prompt - which obviously can be typed over. Like a mail merge
document without any data. I just can't work out how to do it! Can anyone
help?

You could use MacroButton fields:

There are several ways to do this - none of which requires vba.
Probably the simplest is to use Macrobutton fields as place markers -

text ONLY in the fields, use form fields and protect the form.
