Creating a workbook with multiple sheets

I want to create a workbook with multiple sheets for the
year. The month end figures in the first sheet will
become the beginning figures in the second sheet and so
on for the year. I created the first sheet and second
sheets, copied the second sheet to the remaining 10
months. The formulas copied as absolute cell addresses
instead of relative addresses. I am able to do this in
Lotus, but have not figured out what I am doing wrong in
Excel 2000.
