Creating date format "15 Mar 2005". How?

Jonny

I have problems sometimes to actually see a date when it's in all
numbers like e.g. "05-06-2005". I sometimes confuse the day with the
month, and need to really check closely to get it right. I rather have
dates with the month i letters (abbreviated is OK) like "15 Mar 2005".

When I set this in the OS preferences, it still doesn't propagate into
Entourage (nor to e.g. Thunderbird, but people using Mail says it works
for them).

Can I arrange such date format in some way?

TIA

Jonny, I have the same wish, and I agree with you. Because the world's
become a smaller place via technology, and because date formats differ,
particularly when expressed numerically, dates such as "03-05-05" can be
confusing because in some cases you can't be absolutely sure as to whether
it means 5 March or 3 May.

I think in the EU, particularly Germany, it's expressed as the reverse of
what we're used to. I'm an advocate for this, because it just makes sense:
We always know what month we're in, but we're not always sure what
particular day it is; having this in the first position just makes sense.

And while I'm on my date format soapbox, the extra comma required for dates
like "March 5, 2005" is really unnecessary: 5 March 2005 (or 05 March 2005
to eliminate any ambiguity) works quite nicely.

This is why I, like you, prefer either of the two alpha-numeric formats DD
MMM YYYY or [D]D MMMM YYYY.

I'd also like to know if this is do-able in Entourage

Thanks for support, Craig,

You're in California, I'm in Sweden. Heck, that's what I call to
maximize world coverage if you agree to start a movement... ;-)
Seriously, it sometimes bugs the yoddle-do out of me. I do not care
about e.g. the US way to put year-day-month since I do not have to use
it. But the option to have the month (or at least the data in the
middle, whether it's month, day or year) in letters would be a great
help and would prevent misunderstandings that might be disastrous.

Cheers,
Jonny
