Creating outlines

Greetings one and all! I am having trouble creating personalized outlines in Word 2003. I am a WordPerfect user and I a used to using their pre-formatted outlines. I am trying to create a personalized one in Word 2003. Every time I try and create one it goes back to the installed typeface and tabs.

Has anyone else encountered or conquered this problem

I use outlines every week. I want to move everything to Word and begin using it. Can anyone help?
