ctrl+F2 not working on my project

Hi everyone,

I'm having what seems to be the most basic of problems, however it is still
too complicated for the Microsoft techs, it seems.

For some reason, when I select more than one task and try to use ctrl+F2 to
link them, the linking doesn't occur. similarly, pressing ctrl+shift+F2
doesn't unlink selected tasks that I have linked. I've tried various ways of
selecting the cells to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious myself
with no good results.

Thanks for the help.

Did you try using the link icon on the toolbar (it looks like a chain link)?
What happens when you do that?

Hi Jim,

Thanks for helping out. The links work fine, and F2 works fine as far as
the other functions it performs are concerned. Only the keyboard shortcuts
don't.

That's odd behavior. I suggest making sure you have all the latest service
packs and updates for your version of MS Project.

Hi,

What version of Project, what service pack and what version of Windows and
what service packs. Is Project on your PC or are you accessing it via
Citrix?

Hi everyone,

I'm running Vista business and project 2007 standard on a Lenovo T61p; all
software is fully updated.

To be honest, after tinkering with the program yesterday, I managed to get
ctrl+F2 to work some of the time (GANTT chart mode), but it's operation is
still spotty. Please keep in mind that both the control button and F2 work
fine in all other applications.

Thanks again for the help.

Hello,

Just a random thought -- when the CTRL + F2 key combination does not
work check the tasks you have selected. If you've selected a summary
task along with one of its subtasks, project cannot link the tasks.

For example:
Task 1 Summary task
Task 2 Sub task
Task 3 Summary
Task 4 Sub task

If you select from 2 through 4 and try to link, it won't -- either
using CTRL + F2 or the link tasks button.

Can you isolate circumstances when CTRL + F2 won't work but the link
task button will work in the exact same scenario?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
