Cumulus-Powerpoint Support Kit

I use Cumulus 5.5.2 to import images into Powerpoint 2002 via Canto
software's Cumulus-Powerpoint Support Kit Add-In. Something happened,
and I can no longer get the Cumulus icon to show up in the Powerpoint
toolbar. I checked to see if the Add-In was still on the list of
Add-Ins, and it was not, so I tried reloading it, and it does not
reload. Yet it shows up as loaded in a list of the Add-Ins using the
Developer menu from Shyam's Toolbox. The complete message in Shyam's
Toolbox is as follows:

Add-in Name Loaded Registry File Path
IIW Yes Current User F:\Program Files\IIW
ToolBox Yes Current User F:\Program Files\ToolBox
Cumulus AddIn Yes Local Machine f:\program files\shyam pillai

I am wondering if it makes a difference that the Registry location for
the Cumulus Add-In says Local Machine, while all the others (I left a
few off this list for conciseness) say Current User.

Either way, does anybody else in this newsgroup use this Cumulus
Add-In with Powerpoint, and if so, do you have any clue what is going
on here? No matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall Cumulus,
the add-in, and Powerpoint, the problem persists.

Thanks!

Did you lower macro security to Medium or Low before you tried to load the
add-in? That is required. Otherwise it'll just do nothing and not give you
a message. After the add-in is loaded, set the security level back to High.

Repeat the following steps, if you are comfortable with editing the
registry:
1. Quit PowerPoint
2. Select Start | Run | Type 'Regedit.exe' without quotes and press <Enter>
3. The registry tree, navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\10.0\PowerPoint\AddIns\Cumulus
AddIn
4. Delete this 'Cumulus AddIn' key.
5. Quit Regedit

Now try loading the Cumulus add-in from the Tools | Add-in menu after
setting the macro security level to Medium.

The security setting is at "Low". It seems to make no difference with
this plugin. It still does not show up in the list of Available
Add-Ins.

My next suggestion would be to write to the support peopl at Canto and ask
them for help.

Shyam,

I looked for the Cumulus Add-In key in Local User, but it is not
there. It was actually listed in the Common User section, so I deleted
it, but it made no difference.

By the way, I neglected to mention that we installed Cumulus v6 a
while back, and did not uninstall 5.5.2 beforehand. At that point, the
Add-In worked fine, but only in v6. My problems began when I decided
to uninistall v6, and it is then that the Cumulus add-in icon
disappeared from PowerPoint (and the Add-Ins menu). I then uninstalled
5.5.2 as well as the PowerPoint Support Kit, and did reinstallations
and registered the add-in. None of this seemed to remedy the problem.

This is all confusing to me.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Michael

Gruvetoy,
You'll probably get the fastest support from the specific product team since
the issue seems to be limited to that add-in. Let us know if that doesn't
work and then we can look into it further.
