Customised field roll-ups seem to be screwy

I have set the 'calculation for group and summary rows' to 'minimum'.
And it mostly works - but not always. Sometimes it rolls up to something
other than the minimum. Are there any known bugs in this area?

Hi Mark,

In your earlier post you noted you were using Project 2003 with SP-1
installed. Have you installed at least SP-2 if not SP-3? If it doesn't show
the minimum, what does it show?

Haven't heard of anything specific on this. You may want to look at the
exact roll ups that are giving you a problem. If they are part of a
subproject, you should make sure the setting is set to minimum in the
subproject files, not just the master.

It may be helpful to be on the latest service packs, etc. For Project2003
the latest is SP3. For P2007, the latest is SP1 plus an aditional update.

As I say, it often shows the minimum. But in some cases it shows another
value that occurs at the low-level, but is not the mimumum.

So , given values, typically, of 1,,1, 2, 1, 4, 4, ,4 1, 2, 3 ,1, it
shows '2' at the summary level - not for all summaries - just for two or
three out of fifty - but consistently for those two or three.

I'm trying to get SP3 applied, but this is a corporate environment in
which you need a secret handshake and access to the Ancient Skull of
Grendor in order to be given so much as a single-user Minesweeper
licence, let alone to lobby for the application of a patch.

I understand Mark. Try lobbying for SP-2 instead of SP-3. SP-2 has been out
for a long time and the holders of the Ancient Skull of Grendor may feel
better with SP-2 as it has been out longer than SP-3 -- perhaps the 'ancient'
nature of the service pack will appease them.

Without at least SP-2 applied, it's tough to tell what is really going on.

Also, just to clarify, if you have multiple levels of outline, the summary
roll up will show only it's subtasks. I do recall however, that outline
levels and the ability to outdent were a problem without SP-2.

I hope this helps.
