customization of main window

Hi,
we are using Office X and patiently waiting for Office 2008!
I am wondering if there is a way to customize the main window in
Entourage to have two "views" open at once. In other words, I want to
see my Tasks tacked on to the side of Mail window so I can see both
without having to use the different View buttons. Is that possible?

No, that's not possible in Entourage. Perhaps Paul B.'s "Entourage Today"
software would interest you. Entourage Today is the Macintosh alternative
to Outlook Today. It too offers calendar events, tasks, and optionally
unread mail in one view. You can download a trial copy with purchase

You can't have two views in the same window, but you know you can open a
second window, don't you?

Hold the mouse button down on the 'tasks' button in the top left corner of
the main window, and a drop-down menu will appear with 'open tasks in new
window' as the first item - select this nd you will have a second main
window, with the focus on tasks.

Is this good enough?
