Customize Phone/Fax Field Names

I would like to customize my phone number fields in Contacts for specific
locations, i.e. Rather than “Home 2†have it as “Beach House†or “Other Faxâ€
be “Mom’s Faxâ€, etc.

Is there a way to do this?? I’ve tried everything.

It appears that this is such a common request, expanding on the phone number
pull down list of options/ categories. This request has been asked for since
I've started using Outlook. Why hasn't it been added as an editable option to
expand the list of descriptions much like the master category list field?

Probably because it doesn't rank very high on Microsoft's scale of "how hard is it to do and how many customers would benefit from it" compared with all the other things that people have asked for.
