customizing toolbars

Scott

While I understand that there is no way to directly customize the
Entourage toolbar, I wonder if anyone has found a third-party method of
doing so?

I'm setting up Entourage for an older person, and they find the number
of buttons overwhelming. They're never going to use most of the
buttons--Check mail, New Message, and Reply is all they'll need, plus
Send Now.

Back in the days of OS 9, I used OneClick to create large, simple
buttons for people in such a situation, and then hide the Entourage
toolbar. Is QuickKeys X2 the only substitute these days? Seems like a
waste to buy a copy for that one purpose.

BTW, I wasn't at Macworld SF... will Entourage toolbar customization be
added in Office 2004? Seems odd that Word has the feature but Entourage
does not.

Sorry, it is not possible to customise the toolbar, although youu can turn
it off in the general prefs.

Nothing has been said that indicates this option will be added to Office
2004.

You can send feedback to the developers on this issue. Use the last menu
item under the 'Help' menu - "Send Feedback on Entourage". This message will
go directly to the developers. The more people that request this feature the
more likely it is to be implemented.

I don't know what the cost of QuicKeys is, but I think it's fairly high,
isn't it? Foe a fairly modest amount you can get DragThing, which I think
you could probably set up to run specific menu items in Entourage - you can
certainly set it up to run scripts which do the same thing. Then you could
hide the Entourage toolbar, as Barry says. It's worth checking out, anyway.
Let us know if it's helpful.
