Looking for direction on importing a pretty nasty cash register/point of
sale terminal daily report into Access (2003). The report is in Excel 2003
format and the information/data presented is likely to remain static on one
part of the spreadsheet, but there will be some line items may change daily.
For example, sometimes there may be discounts and their respective dollar
amounts documented for employees or not. Or members of the management team
may, on one day, consume beer, wine or other alcohol and on other days not
....so line items and their respective dollar totals may or may not appear on
the report.
I thought about recording a macro to compute daily totals and align the
fields for the TransferSpreadsheet function but if the categories/fields and
their locations on the spreadsheet will change (be present or not) I'm not
sure how to do it.
*Can you make any suggestions for a transfer of this data on a daily basis
to Access? I don't know if automation is possible with such a difficult
layout so I may end up keying the information into a form(s) every day.
