There's a little trap entering % Complete to be aware of. That is, %
Complete refers to duration ONLY. % Work Complete and % Physical Complete
are different measures. So if your task is done 25% on Feb 1st with one day
of work, the task has to have been a 4 day duration task. If the 25%
represents work done on both 30 Jan and 01 Feb, then it is an 8 day duration
task, and so on. The trap is in using % Complete as an entry in the first
place because when you ask people how they're doing and they reply "I'm
halfway done" they're usually thinking in terms of either work or the actual
physical progress and not the time put in versus time required measure that
Project is based on. You'll get far better tracking of progress if you
solicit updates in the form of "How much time have you put in on it and how
much time do think you will need before it's done?" and let Project figure
out the percentages.
