DAO reference is lost

hi all,

i have an access 97 application. when i convert to MDE and ships to client's
computer, i get an big error message saying 'expression evaluated...' and
when i
open my source MDB, i finds tht refference to DAO 3.5 is missing. i have to
give
refferencve gain, make the mde in client's computer. Why this is happening ?
can
any one help ?
