data trapped in identity

any info from pros on the following would be great:

i exceeded DB limit of 2Gigs on MS office X 10.1

mail showed all my data was there and intact, but the app was not
running correctly --

it was locked up 100%

only message alert read: "Mail could not open that feature. Mail
error."

upgraded to 10.1.5 (which allows up to 4Gig DB)...

then i rebuilt the database - had to use advanced then typical mode to
compress and rebuild.

now I have new identity with NO old data.

I still have the OLD identity that i can launch (via switching
identies) - but all access is messed up - click anything and i get
same old "MAIL COULD NOT OPEN..."

any help would be amazing!

The only thing you can try - not guaranteed to work - is this:

1. Open Entourage into your new almost-empty identity.

2. Go to Switch Identities.. to bring up the Identities selection window.

3. Select the old corrupt identity.

4. Hold down Option key and click the "Switch" (or is it "OK"?) button.

5. You should then get the "Rebuild" window. Select "Advanced" and click OK.

Entourage will then attempt to rebuild the old identity. If it can do so, it
will. If it can't, you've lost it.

thnx paul -- have tried this (agian!) and what happens is the rebuild
initiates with compacting apparently happening -- i have 57232 emails
and when it completes, or appears to complete, i get an error message
"COMPACT FAILED -- END OF FILE WAS REACHED".

then a second message pops up that suggests rebuilding with advanced
rebuild...which is possible to complete. however, that one wipes all
data...

haha !

any other ideas?
