Database Cache corruption problem - Entourage X

Hi

I am experiencing a problem with Entourage X that i am running on the
latest version of Tiger (OS X 10.4).

There seems to be a corruption with the database cache. I tried a
normal rebuild, but this was not possible as i kept getting an error
near the end saying that I do not have enough discspace when i clearly
do (tried with over 3x isc space needed).

I tried an advanced rebuild, but this did not work, and actually
locked me out of Entourage (on startup it says that my database is
corrupt and i need to rebuild it, which doesnt work and keeps
generating the same message).

I can still use Entourage, but it is getting very close to its max
database size, and I don't want to lose all my links, etc and start
again.

I think (from looking around), that the problem is with my sent mail
items. I can access tasks, contacts, inbox, mail folders fine. But it
starts acting weird (grey spaces, very slow) when i go into sent mail.

Is there a way to physically go into the database and get rid of
corrupt messages? I think my corrupt message is quite recent, so not
too hard to find?

I know of export-import scripts, but i only want to use them with a
recent backup as a last resort, i want to make sure there is nothing i
(or anyone else) can do o salvage my existing cache.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks

Al

Go to /Users/<Your User>/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office X
Identities/<Your Identity>/ and see if there is a file there called "Old
Database". If there are multiple ones, look for the one with the highest
number. If so, move the file called "Database" to the Desktop, and rename
the old Database just "Database". Then try re-opening Entourage and
accessing your data. You may them be able to try to delete the corrupt
items (be sure to delete them from the Deleted Items folder as well).
Regardless, if you can access your database, it would probably be best to
export all of your data and import it into a new database since your old one
is clearly in fragile condition.
