database corrupted

I have Entourage 2001 on an Emac running OS 10.2.8
The last time I tried to open Entourage I rec'vd a dialog stating
Entourage could not access database. When I tried to rebuild the
database I rec'vd dialog stating ... compacting failed..read/write
error -40.
When I tried advanced rebuild I rec'vd same message along with ..likely
database cannot be repaired.
Is there any way I can repair this problem and/or at least retrive my
address book and message list?

Otherwise, try this:
Install the latest Office 2001 update:
* Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac Security Update (9.0.5)

Download it from Microsoft:
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx#Office2001>

Then try the Advanced Rebuild again.

Got it to work by installing the security update. Would it be a good
idea to run rebuild database periodically?
