database is full

I have read many threads on the microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage
newsgroup, some similar to my problem, but none that resolve my
problem:

Entourage gave me a 4gb database is full error. I rebuilt the database
using typical and then advanced, but my rebuilt database lost much too
much of its data, which is unacceptable. My last back up is about 6
weeks old and I would like to salvage the info since then.

Is there a way to open/edit the full database (now the "old database")
so that I can salvage it, prune it, and/or do other housekeeping on it
to reduce its size.

Can you still open the "full database" (renaming it is
enough to have things back the way they were)? If you can,
then you can drag folders to the desktop, which is a good
way to create backups as you can drag them back later,
possibly in a ney identity (which could then be a way to
deal with archives).

Once you have save folders to the desktop, you can do some
cleaning and then rebuild your database. If possible, stay
with the "Typical rebuild", as the "advanced rebuild" will
delete some information (Categories, etc).

If you can't open the "full database" anymore, things will
be much more difficult. Maybe you can try Entouraid:
