Database not corrupt but Entourage crashes trying to open it.

Help!

Entourage crashed after I clicked send update on a calendar booking update.
Then when I tried to restart, it crashed on every restart.

I used the database tool to verify the database (said it was fine). Still
crashes every time.
Tried rebuilding the database, reran verify - said it was fine, still
crashes every time.
Tried compacting the database, reran verify - said it was fine, still
crashes every time. (see log entry below).

Created a completely new database from scratch, Entourage runs fine.
(Clearly program is working ok)

Tried to open previous database, crashes every time.

So I have a working product, but a database that I cannot open. ANY
SUGGESTIONS?

Have you tried manually removing the database and allowing Entourage to
re-create it?

Inside Documents>Microsoft User Data>Office Identities>Main
Identity>Database

Start by trashing the Database file and then launch. If it still
crashes then trash the Main Identity folder.

That should do it.

Help!

Entourage crashed after I clicked send update on a calendar booking update.
Then when I tried to restart, it crashed on every restart.

I used the database tool to verify the database (said it was fine). Still
crashes every time.
Tried rebuilding the database, reran verify - said it was fine, still
crashes every time.
Tried compacting the database, reran verify - said it was fine, still
crashes every time. (see log entry below).

Created a completely new database from scratch, Entourage runs fine.
(Clearly program is working ok)

Tried to open previous database, crashes every time.

So I have a working product, but a database that I cannot open. ANY
SUGGESTIONS?

There's probably a corrupt message trying to download.

Launch Entourage holding down Shift key (that launches Entourage without
running Startup schedules). First go to Tools/Schedules and disable Send &
Receive All schedule so it doesn't interrupt you. If by any chance you have
an IMAP account, try to get to Tools/Accounts/Mail/[IMAP
account]/Edit/Options and turn off LiveSync.

If you have POP account(s), go to Tools/Accounts/Mail/[the POP
account]/Edit/Options, and check "Allow Online Access". You'll now see a
"folder" in the Folder List representing the POP account. Click on it. Go to
View menu and select Preview Pane/None. If there's no Received column,
select View/Columns/Received. Now look for the oldest non-downloaded
message: if you always download all messages (i.e. do not leave them on the
server) it will be the oldest one in Received column. (If you do leave
messages on the server it will be the oldest one in Received column that has
a jagged, "partial" envelope icon in "Online Status" - envelope icon -
column. If that's not showing, go to View menu/Columns.) Select it, and
delete it (it gets marked for deletion with a red X). Now turn on Send &
Receive schedule, and press cmd-K to get messages. You should be OK. If not,
try another message the same way. (If you want, you can drag the
probably-corrupt message to your desktop before marking it for deletion. You
can open the .eml file it makes in TextEdit to read the text. Or if it's not
the corrupt one, in Entourage too.)

This is a mild corruption in the Exchange account information causing the
issue. We just recently got reports of the issue and are investigating
workarounds/fixes.

BTW, the Database Utility does not check for this kind of corruption and
thus will report that the database is valid. Furthermore, its rebuild
function doesn't address the issue, so a rebuild will not help.
