Database rebuild failure

I had an issue in WORD: the program would hang when I tried to add the drawing toolbar, this is a pain for some of the reports I write.
I did a custom (re)install of WORD only using the master CD.
On restart the other office applications failed!(though still visible in applications).
Entourage wont start - have reinstalled EXCEL and POWERPOINT. on each of their start refers to need to sort out the datatbase.
I am loath to reinstall ENTOURAGE as I dont want to lose emails that are still "live" on current projects. OK I know know I need regularly bacjup the datatbase (didnt know it existed!).
What can I do to get currently inaccesible data?
I have made a copy of the database folder to another machine (about 4.9gbb).

It sounds like your install is missing some components. Use "Remove Office"
then install from your DVD and update.

To be ultra safe, zip your Main Identity folder as backup. This file should
not be touched, but having a backup is always a safe option.
