DataBase Rebuild issues

I just want to make sure that there is no workaround possible, before I
throw the towel in.

I am running: Office X, 10.3.9 with enough ram. (I just bought a copy
of Office 2004 though, heard the rebuild app was tougher than X)

Here are my challenges:

Typical or the Advance rebuild will not work.
I have tried the follwing work arounds (to save the data):

Tried to import in:

Mail --> did not work: Has to boot ENT X to import the inbox, and ENT X
will not boot.
Eudora --> did not work: cannot import ENT X DB, as it's not in the
pull down menu. Tried OE5, but not luck.
ENT 2004 --> this looked like it was going to work, the rebuilding app
was chugging along, but no dice when it was all done.

I have the 'corrupted' DB, but it just seems like there is no hope for
recovery. Is that correct? Want to keep using ENT, but I just wished
that i had paid more attn to my DB.

Anyhow, would love to hear some learned workarounds. Thanks a million.

You don't say which specific version of Entourage X you have. There were
several improvements to the rebuild engine along the way. If you don't have
v10.1.4 or later already, go to the MacTopia website and download and
install the Office 10.1.6 Update. Then try an Advanced Rebuild again. This
has a very good chance of working.

There are a very few cases where even that doesn't work. Yes, the rebuild
engine in Entourage 2004 is much, much better: I don't believe we've heard
of any cases of failure here. Also the databases can be any size . But first
you've got to get your data there.

None of your import workarounds will work. They all depend on the database
being in good shape such that Entourage can launch first. Nothing (except
the Entourage 2004 importer) can decipher the proprietary database file:
they need access to the running app - and even the 2004 importer needs a
database in comprehensible shape.

It does sound as if you're cooked. Things will be much better in 2004.

Looks like that was the answer. I had not looked @ my vers, and the
x.1.6 update fixed the whole thing. Amazing Paul, many thanks.
