Database transfer

I copied the Identities database from Entourage X from my machine at
work, and I'd like to incorporate those messages and addresses into the
database on my home Mac, also running Entourage X. The IMPORT command
will only work if I have Entourage 2001. I don't get a choice to import
anything from Entourage X. Is there any way to incorporate the data
from one machine to another with the same version of Entourage? Thanks.

Thanks. This worked very well, except that I cannot send mail from the
new "old" identity that I created. I can read the emails and address
book from that database, but I figured if I set up an account, using my
regular home email stuff, it would work. When I try to send email from
that now second identity, it tells me I need authentication (5.7.1) I'm
wondering if I'm allowed to have two identities linked to the SAME
email account??

Any help appreciated.

Can you rephrase the question? What account did you set up?

Why are you running two identities? I thought the whole point of your
original question was to merge work and home stuff in the same identity?

Following the instructions from the link you posted above, I moved the
new identities folder in with the current one, but was told to rename
that new folder (Its name was also MAIN IDENTITY on the other machine)
so as to not copy over the current MAIN IDENTITY on my home machine.
This created a second identity that could be accessed by switching
identities. You are right that my whole point was to try to merge all
that info into one file, accessible from my current home identity and
email account.

You missed the part where it says:

"Switch Identities to view your old mail. If you have not used the new
identity, delete it and just place your old identity folder in the MUD
folder.
***If you have used it and want to combine the new mail with your original
database,*** drag each folder to the desktop from one identity. This creates
an MBOX file. Switch identities. Drag the MBOX files into the folder window
of Entourage."

Then it does forgot to make the point that you can then forget about that
second identity, once you have everything transferred into the identity you
wish to use.

Why didn't you ask further when the information didn't get you exactly what
you wanted?
